As the song ends, the two stand in front of their respective mirrors, dressed like a matching wedding party set.

INT. CHURCH- DAY
Ella, the mother of the bride, sits by herself in the front pew as the rest of the church slowly fills. She is stern with eyes that show a bounty of never ending, conflicting emotions that whirl and push her every movement.

Each time a person sits, they are polite, but not friendly with Ella. They keep their distance.

Ella lovingly touches the space next to her -the space that would be reserved for her husband.

ELLA
Ginny looks gorgeous, honey. You’d be so proud to give her away.

She gives a last, lingering pat on the velvet cushion and returns her hands tightly to her lap.

A Man leans into her and offers his hand.

Ella takes it warily.

MAN
Hi, I’m from the other side.

Ella gives a blank stare.

The Man motions toward the groom’s section.

ELLA
Oh, well, thank you for coming.

MAN
I just wanted to say I’m a fan and follower of you and your husband’s work.

ELLA
Even now?

MAN
Especially now. “Eradication is the cure.”

ELLA
(lost in angry thought)
Eradication is the cure.

MAN
(feeling awkward)
Well, it was great meeting you.

Ella glares at the altar as an ironically, sweet, trilling piano version of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March begins.

The song dramatically goes into a rhythm and of a military march.

ELLA
(chanting)
WE SHOOT ZOMBIES, SICK OR DEAD,
MAKE SURE TO HIT THEM IN THE HEAD,
MISTAKE OF MERCY IS YOUR DEATHBED
FILL THEIR HELMETS WITH US LEAD.

MAN
(chanting)
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.

ELLA
(chanting)
KEEP AN EYE OUT, DON’T YOU REST.
ZOMBIES CAN SURPRISE INFEST.
KEEP YOUR AMMO IN YOUR VEST.
THIS IS NOT A FUCKING TEST.

MAN
(chanting)
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.

ELLA
(chanting)
I’VE BEEN TOLD IT’S NOT SO NEAT,
TO SEE ZOMBIES BURN IN THE STREET,
BUT BURNING ZOMBIES SMELL SO SWEET,
IT’S ONE MORE DAY ON YOUR TWO FEET.

MAN
(chanting)
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.

ELLA
(chanting)
Z-CAMPS ARE NOT ZOMBIES YET,
BUT USE YOUR BRAIN AND USE YOUR GRIT,
GOD AND I DON’T GIVE A SHIT,
BOMB THE HELL OUT OF IT.

MAN
(chanting)
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.
ERADICATION IS THE CURE.

The music blends into the Funeral March.

ELLA
(singing)
MY HUSBAND DIED
TRYING TO CONVINCE OUR SIDE
THAT THERE WAS NO CURE
THAT THERE WAS NO CURE

MY SON IS GONE
Z-CAMP SAID HE’D SOON COME HOME
BUT THERE IS NO CURE
NO, THERE IS NO CURE

MY HUSBAND WROTE
THE CLOSEST ANTIDOTE
BUT IT DID NOT PREVAIL
THE DEATHS IT WOULD ENTAIL

SO WE MUST GUESS
WE’LL GO ON WITH IT SUPPRESSED
WE WON’T USE THE CURE
BECAUSE THE MEANS ARE NOT PURE

HOW MAY LIVES
NEED TO BECOME ZOMBIEFIED
CAN’T THEY UNDERSTAND
CAN’T THEY UNDERSTAND

THAT THE CURE LIES
IN MERCILESS GOODBYES
ERADICATION IS THE CURE!
ERADICATION IS THE CURE!

The funeral march crescendos and plummets, ending abrupty.

A pause and the Bridal March begins.

ELLA (CONT’D)
(singing)
HERE COMES THE BRIDE,
MY CHILD SURVIVED.

MY ONLY HOPE,
MY ONLY HOPE.
